what an honor..

Sooo...I've been taking this class with the AMAZING Sharon Bridgforth at Scripps College in Claremont. I've been learning Sharon's method of 'Finding Voice' and let me tell you, I have definitely found it! (or at least part of it) I love the class and also the honor of working with Sharon (A once in a lifetime opportunity)

Anywho..

Natasha and I (Sappho's Return) decided to honor Sharon's stay here in California with a little intimate outing with her and about 8 others to the Pasadena Jazz Institute. Check out these pix...It was a good night!

dillema

Fabulous femmes and buxas out there...please help!
I'm in a state of utter distress!

I'm trying to create a packing list, as my friend and I will be traveling to Mexico city and Puerto Vallarta for 10 days. We leave in about 3 weeks and I'm a mess (between school, work, community events that I MUST attend, one visual art show I'm curating, 3 Dia De Los Muertos Altars that I will be a part of this year, and just being simply FAB, well I'm kind of going crazy)

so here's my dilemma:

what would you pack on a trip like this?

(we are going to be in Mexico city for 6 days and Puerto Vallarta for 3 days)

what I think I'm going to need is some kind of back pack (AHHH the thought of this just drives me INSANE...I don't even OWN a backpack) I want it to be stylish, yet not scream 'BRAND' since I don't want it to get stolen etc..I just wish there was something cute but that I could wear either on my back or across my torso.

PLEASE HELP...I'm going CRAZY just thinking about this...

Stop the Insanity!!!!

Shouts out to SublimeFemme Unbound for her AMAZING post about the Feminist Fairytale about Butch/Femme. Being someone who ID's as femme, I've heard it all, and I'm glad that Sublimefemme had tackled this subject in the manner that only her fabulous self can! BRAVO!

AMEN

Thanks to Chloe Jo over at Girly Girl Army for this quote that I totally needed right now.

"See that any time you feel pained or defeated, it is only because you insist on clinging to what doesn't work. Dare to let go and you won't lose a thing except for a punishing idea." -Guy Finley

Our Lady of Controversy

Alma Lopez is BY FAR one of my Favorite Artists. I have had the pleasure of working (kind of) with her (she filmed some fellow femmes and I at my house a couple of years ago on a film on queer femmes that she's working on) She is AMAZING...Really. Anywho, I check her website about every month or so, and lo and behold her and her partner, the (also) amazing Alicia Gaspar de Alba ('Sor Juana's Second Dream' is one of my favorite books!) are working on this book....I can't wait to get it!

And more importantly, continuing to have an open heart."

I am glad to be blessed with an amazing community...both on-line and off.

I'm learning to breathe again...

inhale.....taking in positive energy and learning how to keep a good attitude

exhale.....leaving behind the past that has been haunting me for the past couple of months. leaving behind the bad memories and the negative feelings

she has been haunting my dreams for the last month.

finally the last couple of nights have been free of hir existence/presence in my dreams

it has been quite an accomplishment not have hir in my thoughts throughout my day

i am learning how to breathe again...
