We had a chill, yet busy weekend. It rained for the most part of it, so it was nice to kind of be home for most of it. It is true that most people in LA (myself included) don't know how to drive in the rain. It's scary! Sunday night we had a few people over for a potluck to celebrate my friend Ursula's B-day, our friend Christel's promotion (she's going to be a jr. executive for a big network!) and of course my baby finishing her Masters program!! GO baby! It was nice and of course there is nothing more heartwarming for me to just lean on my counter and see our friends having fun in our home. I think it's especially important for us queers to have chosen family and be able to do things with them that don't require clubbing or going out...<3 Oh and my spiced wine (in the crock pot) was a super hit (and SUPER easy, great for get togethers!) check out the recipe below:
2 bottles of Cabernet
1 cup of water
1 cup of corn syrup
Cheese Cloth (you can also use a coffee filter tied with string or twine)
8 cloves
1 whole nutmeg
1 cinnamon stick broken into 3-4 pieces
The peel of one orange
Combine the wine, water & corn syrup into the crock pot. Next, put the cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon stick (broken) and orange peel in the cheese cloth and tie it up real tight. Put the crock pot on high for 2 hours (after the 2 hours, just keep it on warm to keep it warm. I served it in little vintage coffee cups and garnished with little orange slices
