get OUT: Outfest - Gun Hill Road

Hello lovelies - I hope you all had a great 4th of July weekend and got to catch some amazing fireworks! I'm lucky that we live on a high hill and my friends and I were able to see fireworks all over, it was super nice! I wish I could have taken a picture of it, but all I could get was a bunch of blurry pictures, so I won't bore you with those here.


But let's get to the fun stuff, shall we? It's July and you know what that means?!!!! It's OUTFEST time! OUTFEST is in its 29th year (ALMOST as old as me...lol) and this year they're offering an array of films and events that are sure to entertain any and everyone!


There are a at least 5 films that I want to go to, but what I'm SUPER excited to go to (THIS WEEK) is Gun Hill Road which is the Opening Night Gala! What drew me to this particular film/event was not only the fact that RuPaul is going to be presenting (but hello, that helps) but the storyline sounds great. Not only do they deal with youth coming out as trans, and prison industrial complex issues, but from the looks of the IMDB page and the movie trailer found HERE there are mostly latin@ actors in the film! The film has gotten great reviews and also reviews have noted that the director has taken care with the topics dealt with in the film.

After reading the blurb about the film on the OUTFEST website, I was surprised to read that Gun Hill Road was director Rashaad Ernesto Green's thesis film and FIRST feature.
